We Were Here - Lights

I had a vision when starting this blog that I'd throw together a playlist with songs I couldn't get out of my head, inspired me in some way, or that I felt I needed to share with others. I wanted to make this as interactive as possible for both myself and anyone who chooses to spend some time reading my thoughts, so I was extra stoked about this part.
For the very first Sunday Download, I decided to go with a tried + true track and push my favorite lady, Lights, onto you all. Her latest album Skin&Earth follows the issues of the comic she produced under the same name, and neither should go undiscovered. Her lyrics have always been poetic and raw, and her vocals cut through each synth with sharp precision, yet always uniquely delicate.
"We Were Here" is so moving, and clearly displays the growth Lights has experienced over the past few years in both her home front with her family, as well as creatively. She broke the ceiling into new territory that she's only dreamed of, and the results have kept both the artist and the fanbase in constant awe.
Don't sleep on this album, this artist, or this project; Lights is going to rope you in and keep you holding your breath while she pumps out whatever she's thought up next.
Head over to her website to check out her latest endeavors, pick up Skin&Earth comics, and get familiarized with your new favorite badass.
