Figuring It Out - SWMRS

I took a mini hiatus from my Sunday Downloads, which I'm sure isn't the greatest for my brand, but it was great for me personally. I spent my Sunday last weekend in Chicago and decided to post about SWMRS when I returned.
Just as it did last week, this track is bringing all the beachy, So-Cal vibes this Sunday.
I saw the Oakland quartet (consisting of Cole Becker, Max Becker, Sebastian Mueller, and Joey Armstrong) during their stint on Warped Tour in 2012 under their previous name, Emily's Army. Their punk sound came with the same bite back then, (you can still find them on Spotify - Loch Lomond was my angsty teenage anthem) though a bit more refined now, and I've been eager to watch them play again ever since.
It can't go without saying that Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has seemingly had a strong influence on his son's musical exploration. (Do you not see that striking resemblance??) The elder Armstrong assisted Emily's Army in the studio as they recorded their full-length debut on his own Adeline Records in 2011, though I'm sure growing up with such a strong musical force brings its own clout.
SWMRS has a mash of killer sounds that can easily be traced back to the Ramones, The Beach Boys, and The Clash, making it my ideal modern-day, dreamy punk. The band released their formal debut, "Drive North," produced by Zac Carper of FIDLAR, in 2016 and it shouldn't go without a spin. "The guitar draws blood," as explained on their Spotify, "the drums detonate... the sound is timeless."
This is one band whose tracks I always keep at hand, and I'd absolutely recommend you do the same.
