In Richmond, Virginia, within the walls of aged theaters, neon diners, and spots with aesthetics I secretly wish were on my Instagram page as well, lives a presence that has been haunting, and being asked to haunt, the city for a few weeks now.

The culprit is "just a lil ghostie ghost" that has been pushing striking scenes, a few haunting snapshots, and clever captions on Instagram - all of which are making my heart sing. I think I audibly shouted, "YAAAS" when I discovered the page because the aesthetic, the photography, and the concept are all so far up my alley, and I was dying to see more.

(pun is absolutely intended)

Guys, I definitely found the account that has seriously become one of my new favorite things of all time. This blog was always going to be dedicated partially to art and when I stumbled upon @mostlyghostingyou, I knew I had to chat with the soul behind the sheet to share it with you all.

How did you come up with this project, and when did it start??

This is obviously a popular question and I usually answer with, “it was my halloween costume two years ago and I loved it!” I actually regretted not being the Ghost for halloween last year. I feel like sheet ghosts just have more fun than mimes.

How long have you been taking these photos and promoting this lil ghostie ghost?

It's been an idea of mine since last Halloween; we just started doing weekly shoots and pretty much daily postings about five weeks ago (July 24th, to be exact), so it really hasn’t been that long. I have a few photos from the beginning of the year but the project fell through so I stopped, until I found Meagan.

Is there a meaning or message behind your project?

It's really just to have fun! Something we both (Meagan and I) can have fun with and get as creative as possible - there are SO many possibilities with the Ghost!!

Was there ever a strong direction while starting it up? Your photos are killer and so professional, so it doesn't seem like it was ever just a casual hobby.

I have a picky, creative eye, as do all artists I think, so I knew it needed to look good. Bad pictures just bother me, especially on a photo-sharing platform. I found Meagan's Instagram through a mutual friend, so I asked her if she'd be down to do a shoot! I did not expect her to be so about it but she is! She loves it as much as I do, and we shoot at least once a week now!

Do you have any idea of where you'd like to take this project and/or what you'd like to see in its future?

We don't, we are just going to see where the wind takes us! I usually let things take their natural course, and its kind of known as the RVA (Richmond, VA) Sheet Ghost, which we are cool with! This is a great, creative city, and the people are loving it!!

What is your favorite photo you've taken so far?

This is hard - I really love the rainbow one, where my sheet is blowing in the wind! I also love the one of me under the hair dryer at a local salon (Katie Blue Salon). They were actually the first place that reached out to me asking if I can haunt them! So far the shoots that we have been requested to haunt have been the most fun because they have a lot of ideas as to what they want the Ghost to do! And, sometimes, a bunch of mannequin heads in the basement!

Where do you find your inspiration?

Like, everywhere! There are so many puns!! Like, so many, and they aren't too hard to come up with. I will Google ghost jokes and puns from time to time. There's also just so much creativity and inspiration in this city, so it's not hard to just look around and get an idea! When we do shoots at places, the people there will also say, "oh, it'd be so funny if you did this or that," so it's not just Meagan and I coming up with ideas!

Have you had an aesthetic in mind this whole time, or are the locations and photos mainly impulsive and quick?

I mean, I definitely love Meagan's style when it comes to shooting, so keeping that consistent will keep the overall aesthetic. As for locations, anything goes! The Ghost is so simple, there isn't really much that wouldn't fit with the "theme." The Ghost is down for anything, honestly.

Do you have any collaborations or plans in the works, or are you keeping this more lighthearted and personal?

Oh, yes! We actually just finished up and shot for a local magazine! We definitely like collaborating; it keeps things fresh and stirs up new ideas for sure. People also get really excited when the Ghost comes to haunt them!

I want to give Meagan, the photographer, credit for this project too! We text ideas, puns, and captions for photos. She puts a lot of work into it, more than I do. If it wasn't for her, this would not be possible!

We do eventually want to do stickers, pins, patches - little merch items like that! We also thought prints of the photos would be fun. The purpose of the Ghost definitely isn't to make money, but if we could, that would be awesome! Loving what you do for a living is the goal, right??

I get a fair amount of messages from people on Instagram saying how much they love the idea, and it makes them happy! I love that! I like making people laugh; I have a very dry sense of humor and I love to use it!!

Alright, one last pressing question: how did the red Chucks become a staple for the Ghost??

Because the shoes make the outfit! I just love them. They were what I originally wore with my Halloween costume and when I think of a little kid being a sheet ghost for Halloween, I can't think of any other shoe!

I absolutely loved hearing more about how this project came to be, and could hardly contain my excitement while perusing through all of the amazing images I was sent. It was so difficult to decide on just a handful for this article, so you'll absolutely have to take a trip over to the Ghost's Instagram to see them for yourself - enjoy, and stay spooky!
